Switching from Pass+

Pass+ is closing. Keep your galleries.

Pass+ has told photographers its service ends on October 31, 2026. If you would rather not move to the platform Pass+ chose for you, you can bring your galleries to Semuko yourself.

The importer reads zip files you download, or folders you already have on a drive. It does not sign in to another platform or copy anything from it.

Deadline: October 31, 2026. Download your galleries before then. Pass says galleries older than a year must be unarchived first, which can take hours.

What is happening

What is happening with Pass+

Checked October 21, 2026.

  • The service ends October 31, 2026

SLR Lounge reported on September 9, 2026 that Pass+ told users, by email and a dashboard banner, that they have until October 31 to get their work off the platform. The report says this applies at least in the US, and that there was no public announcement on passgallery.com at the time.
  • The migration offered is to Pic-Time

According to the same report, Pass+ is offering a free automatic migration to Pic-Time. That is the move Pass+ arranged; moving anywhere else is up to you.
  • Galleries download one at a time

Pass’s help center explains how to download a gallery: Photos, Select All, Share photos, Download, then the photos.zip link for high-resolution images. Each gallery is downloaded separately, and Pass suggests renaming each zip with the gallery name.
  • Older galleries need unarchiving

Pass says galleries older than one year have to be unarchived before download, which takes about 2 to 15 hours, with an email when they are ready. Start with those.

How to move

Move to Semuko in three steps

  1. Download each gallery from Pass+

Follow Pass’s download guide for every gallery you want to keep, and rename each photos.zip to the gallery name. If you still have the originals on a drive, you can import those folders instead.
  2. Start a trial and pick where originals live

Start a 30-day trial (no credit card). Keep the default Semuko storage or connect your own bucket first, so originals land there from the start.
  3. Drop the files into Galleries > Import

Each zip or top folder becomes a gallery and its subfolders become sets. Dates come from the folder name or the photos. Check the titles, match clients (by name, or from a CSV of names and emails), and import. Galleries are created as drafts until you publish them.
Semuko Galleries is rolling out in early access. Start a free trial, then ask us to switch Galleries on for your account. The importer is included at no extra cost.

Why bring your own storage

So the next shutdown is not your problem

Studios that have been through one forced move usually want the files somewhere they control.

  • Your originals stay in your bucket

Connect your own S3-compatible storage: AWS S3, Backblaze B2, Cloudflare R2, Wasabi or IDrive e2. Original files are written to a bucket in your account, not ours.
  • No platform shutdown can take them

Because the bucket is yours, your originals do not depend on any gallery company staying in business, Semuko included. You can open them with your storage provider’s own tools at any time.
  • Galleries keep working if a bucket has trouble

Semuko also keeps the display-size copies clients browse on its own private storage, so a gallery still opens if your bucket is briefly unreachable. Semuko checks connected buckets and tells you when one needs attention.
  • Or use Semuko storage

Bringing your own bucket is optional. Semuko storage is the default, and you can connect a bucket later.

FAQ

Switching from Pass+: questions

When does Pass+ shut down?

SLR Lounge reported on September 9, 2026 that Pass+ told users they have until October 31, 2026 to get their work off the platform. Check your Pass+ email and dashboard for the notice that applies to your account.

Does Semuko connect to Pass+ and pull my galleries?

No. Semuko does not sign in to Pass+ or copy anything from it. You download each gallery as a zip from Pass+ (or use originals you already have), and the importer reads those files.

I already accepted the Pic-Time migration. Can I still move to Semuko?

Yes. Download the galleries from Pic-Time as zip files and import them, or import the originals from your drives.

What happens to galleries I do not download in time?

The reports we have seen do not say. Download anything you want to keep before October 31, 2026, and keep a backup of your originals.

How does the importer decide what is a gallery and what is a set?

Each zip file or top folder is one gallery, and its subfolders become sets. Several zip parts with the same name are combined. The gallery date comes from a date in the folder name, or else from the earliest photo date. System files such as .DS_Store, __MACOSX and Thumbs.db are ignored.

Do client favorites, comments and passwords come across?

No. A download contains the photos and their folders, so that is what the importer brings in. Set passwords, download options and expiry dates on each gallery in Semuko, and send clients the new link when you publish.

What if my browser closes during a large import?

Open Import again and pick the same files. The importer remembers what already uploaded in that browser and skips it.

Do I need my own storage bucket?

No. Semuko storage is the default. Connecting your own S3-compatible bucket is optional and means your originals live in an account you control.
