In our tests on 90 photos, automatic tools that look for a watermark repeated across a gallery found none of the watermarks set this way, while the same corner watermark in a fixed spot was found and removed in 50-81% of photos. It does not stop someone who traces the watermark by hand.
Invisible forensic marks, and Trace a leaked photo.
Turn it on per gallery and Semuko hides a code in the previews and web downloads clients get, invisible at normal viewing. Each visitor's downloads get their own code. Your originals and lab print files are never marked.
In our tests on 90 photos, the mark was found after JPEG re-saving, resizing to half size and 10% crops in at least 98% of cases, and after browser-style screenshots in 81%.
Photos at 1600 px, served the way galleries serve them, then decoded the way Trace decodes them. Smaller copies hold up less well: on 800 px grid thumbnails, screenshots were traced in 11 of 30. Not tested and expected to fail: odd-angle rotation, perspective changes, heavy blur or grading, AI upscaling or regeneration, and very tight crops.

No watermark or hidden mark is removal-proof.
Heavy edits, tight crops and AI tools can remove them. In our tests on 90 photos, free AI inpainting tools erased every watermark style we offer, including ours, when someone traced the watermark by hand. What still helped: when a visible watermark was removed, our invisible forensic mark was still found in more than 90% of those copies. These tools deter copying and help you trace copies; they cannot prevent it. Add a preview size limit (for example 1600 px until they pay), and a strength meter rates your watermark Light, Good or Strong as a guide to how much work it is to crop or paint out.

Questions studios ask
Are client galleries included in every Semuko plan?
Yes. Galleries, the print store, proofing and theft protection are in every plan (Essentials $39.95, Studio Pro $79.99, Agency Unlimited $149.99 a month, 10% off yearly). Galleries Pro, which adds remote ordering sessions and a studio site on your own domain, is included on Studio Pro and Agency Unlimited and $15 a month on Essentials.
Does Semuko take a commission on print or download sales?
No. Semuko takes no commission on anything you sell from a gallery. Your payment processor charges its normal fees, and print orders sent to a lab are billed by that lab.
How much storage do I get?
50 GB of Semuko storage is included in every plan. After that, 1 TB is $12, 3 TB is $29, 10 TB is $99 a month, and yearly storage costs 10 months. Or connect your own S3-compatible bucket (AWS S3, Backblaze B2, Cloudflare R2, Wasabi, IDrive e2) and Semuko charges nothing for storage.
Will Semuko ever delete my galleries?
Not automatically. Going over your storage or a lapsed payment never deletes a gallery. If a payment lapses, everything keeps working for 7 days; after that, client links show a friendly unavailable page until billing is sorted, and the links, codes and QR codes stay the same.
Can watermarks or invisible marks stop people stealing my photos?
No watermark or hidden mark is removal-proof. Heavy edits, tight crops and AI tools can remove them. Semuko makes copying slower, more obvious and traceable: watermarks that vary on every photo, invisible forensic marks you can trace with Trace a leaked photo, and preview size limits.
Can I print through a lab?
Yes. Connect your WHCC account and paid print orders go straight to the lab and ship to your client, or fulfill orders yourself. More labs are being added.
What is Glowsake?
Glowsake is the free app and web home for your clients, from the Semuko family. Clients keep every gallery from every photographer in one library, open yours in your brand from a short glsk.to link or QR code, and can keep a gallery offline. The iOS and Android apps are coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.
Can I move my galleries from Pic-Time, Pixieset, ShootProof or Pass+?
Yes, free. Download your galleries from the old platform and drop the files into Galleries > Import: each zip or folder becomes a gallery and subfolders become sets. Your first year of 1 TB Semuko storage is on us. The offer applies with any yearly plan.
Do you use face recognition?
No. Semuko does not scan faces in your galleries. Guests find photos by set or by browsing.
