Common questions
How should I price a photo booth rental?
Start from your real cost per event: attendant pay for event hours plus setup and teardown, print media, travel, backdrop wear and props. Add a share of your fixed monthly overhead, then apply the profit margin you want. This calculator does that math and rounds the result up to the nearest $5.
What is the difference between margin and markup?
Margin is profit as a share of the price. A 40% margin on a $1,000 package means $400 profit and $600 cost. Markup is profit as a share of cost, so the same package is a 67% markup. This calculator uses margin.
What does break-even bookings per month mean?
It is how many events you need each month for the money left after direct event costs to cover your fixed overhead. Every booking past that number contributes profit.
Where do the market reference prices come from?
They come from Check Cherry's 2026 photo booth pricing guide, which reports percentiles from about 118,000 rentals booked on its platform since January 2024. The guide does not state a country, so treat the figures as a directional reference, not a quote for your local market.
How do I price an additional hour?
An extra hour mainly adds attendant time and prints. The calculator estimates that incremental cost and applies your margin, which gives a floor for your add-on hour price. Many operators charge more than the floor because the setup cost has already been paid.
Is this calculator free?
Yes. It runs in your browser with no account. Semuko is optional business software for booking, contracts, invoices and payments if you want to run your booth business in one place.
