Switching from Dubsado

Bring your Dubsado contacts and projects with you.

Semuko includes a free importer for Dubsado exports. Dubsado publishes the columns in its contact and project CSVs, so they map to Semuko fields automatically. You check, preview and import.

The importer reads CSV and PDF files you download. It does not sign in to another product or copy anything from it.

What Dubsado lets you export

Know what comes across before you start

From Dubsado’s help center.

Checked October 21, 2026.

  • Contacts CSV

Contacts, then Export CSV. You choose the columns: first and last name, phone, email, address, an alternate contact, company name, phone and email, created date, and your custom mapped client fields.
  • Projects CSV

Projects, then Export CSV, for the projects in your current filtered view. Columns include project title, Lead or Job, project and contract status, created, start and end dates, tag, source, archived, project location, client details, and two paid totals: Primary invoice paid and All invoices paid.
  • Invoices are totals only

The project export has paid totals without currency symbols, but no line items, due dates or balances, and Dubsado does not document an invoice export. Semuko can record the paid total as a paid invoice on each project if you turn that on. Dubsado’s Bookkeeping page can also export transactions, including payments; its columns are not published, so you map them by hand.
  • Contracts

Dubsado does not document a contract PDF export for studios. Clients receive a copy of each signed contract by email. Any signed PDFs you have can be attached in Semuko.
  • Who can export

Accountant users cannot export project or contact data, and basic users export only the projects assigned to them. Owners and admins can export everything they can see.
  • Dubsado pricing

Dubsado’s pricing page lists Starter at $335 a year and Premier at $525 a year (USD), with a 21-day free trial of Premier.

How to move

Six steps from Dubsado to Semuko

  1. Export from Dubsado

Export Contacts and Projects as CSV with all fields ticked. Clear the project filters first so every project is in the file. Optionally export Transactions from Bookkeeping.
  2. Start a trial

Start a 30-day trial (no credit card), then open Settings, Preferences, Import from another CRM.
  3. Upload, check the mapping, preview

Drop in the CSV files. Columns are matched to Semuko fields and you can change any match. Map each project status to one of your Semuko statuses. The preview shows duplicate emails and which people already exist in your account, so nothing is created twice.
  4. Import

Contacts become clients (or leads), projects become events with their dates, venue and status, and payments become paid invoice records. Large files run in the background. When it finishes you get a summary and a CSV of any skipped rows with the reason for each.
  5. Attach signed contracts

Add any signed contract PDFs on the summary screen. Each PDF is matched to a client or project by its file name, and you can change the match before attaching.
  6. Run it again any time

Each imported row is remembered, so importing a newer export updates the records the first run created instead of duplicating them. Imported records do not trigger workflows or emails to your clients.
Rows marked “Lead” in Dubsado become Semuko leads; rows marked “Job” become events. Want help planning the move? Contact us. For a feature-by-feature look, see Semuko vs Dubsado.

FAQ

Switching from Dubsado: questions

Do Dubsado leads and jobs stay separate?

Yes. The project export marks each row Lead or Job. Leads come in as Semuko leads with their event date and venue; jobs become events linked to the client. You can also choose to import leads as events.

How are Dubsado project statuses handled?

The importer lists every project status in your file and you pick the Semuko status each one should become. Statuses with the same name are matched for you.

What happens if I import the same file twice?

Semuko remembers every row it imported. A second import of the same export, or a newer one, updates those records instead of making copies. People who were already in Semuko before the import are matched by email and only their empty fields are filled in.

Will my clients get emails when I import them?

No. Imported clients, leads, events and payments skip workflows, receipts and marketing syncs.

What if some rows do not import?

The summary counts them and offers a CSV of the skipped rows with a reason for each, such as a project with no date or a payment with no amount, so you can fix them and import that file again.

Does the importer cost extra?

No. Importing is included on every Semuko plan and during the free trial.
